Quality control quality assurance in the coating inspection industry

COATINGS FAILURE

It is not a big secret that coating failure is a possibility, and it is the reason why Coating Inspectors exist in the first place. By its nature, metal want to return to its natural state, slowly corroding to its end. Our main role as coating inspection leader is to extend the lifespan of your assets.

However, when a premature coating failure happens it becomes clear that something wasn’t done right. When that happens, it puts the entire construction into jeopardy with millions of potential losses for owners. We want to explain one of the main reasons why that happens and how you can prevent it.

When it comes to project owners, many of them choose to utilize the coating manufacturers to do inspections. A technical representative from the coating manufacturer should be a part of the project team. When they are used as the sole Inspectors on the project, it may create bias.

It is a good idea to have a Technical Representative on the jobsite, but this does not satisfy full quality control or quality assurance. Their liability is limited to only the material.

With third-party Inspectors, you will receive the best quality possible according to industry standards. This also lets you have The Coating Inspector on your side by your side when it comes to negotiations and litigations.  Our main goal is to prevent the cause of the litigation in the first place.  If it comes to that our Inspector will have their reports and documents ready to provide evidentiary support and details to the events that lead to the failure.

Another benefit is a wider range of knowledge and its depth in the industry.  The Inspector could draw from different industries and provide you with a piece of expert advice.

Third-party inspectors

When an Inspector shows up for an inspection, he doesn’t care who is the manufacturer, he doesn’t care which coating was applied he only cares if all the standards were adhered to. If an Owner has a question or an issue, an Inspector will reach out to the Technical Representative for the manufacturer and ask a couple of questions, he/she will challenge them to ensure they have crossed their t’s and dotted their i’s.

To summarize, the best way to ensure the lifespan of your asset is to hire a third party Coating Inspector.
